Annual Congress of the PGIA Advancing Field Practices with Scientific Knowledge Certificate Course on Forest Plantation Management - Brochure (PDF) CROP SCIENCE DAY 2011
Among the eight Departments of the Faculty, the Department of Crop Science significantly contributes to the B.Sc. Agricultural Technology and Management degree program. Every year, about 50 students (about 1/4 of the total intake in a year) do specialize in Crop Science. As a partial fulfillment of the degree program, at the final year, all the students are required to conduct a half-year research work and to prepare a thesis. At the end of the stipulated period, they have to present their research findings in the form of a formal presentation in front of the academic community. From this, the top-ten presentations will be selected. “Crop Science Day” is a key annual event at the Department of Crop Science, where aforesaid top-ten students make their graceful presentations in front of the academic staff members and invited officials of public and private sector institutions who are potential employers. On the same day, students get an opportunity to talk with those officials during the open discussion forum to gain some experience. This year, Crop Science Day will be held on 4th November 2011 at the R.R. Appadurai auditorium, Faculty of Agriculture from 2.00 pm onwards. Prof. K. Samarasinghe, Dean/Agrculture will be the guest of honors.
