CDCE is now ISO 9001:2015 Certified
It is with great pride we announce that the Centre for Distance and Continuing Education [CDCE] turned to be an ISO 9001:2015 certified institute in 2016. Being the centre of excellence in distance and continuing education of the country, the CDCE, University of Peradeniya boast to be one of the very few organizations of the country to receive ISO 9001:2015. To ISO 9001:2015 certificate was awarded to Professor Upul B. Dissanayake, Vice-Chancellor of University of Peradeniya by the Director General of Sri Lanka Standards Institution on December 28, 2016. Dr. Jayalath Edirisinghe, Director of the CDCE, Mr. U. Dodanwala, Registrar of the University, Mr. Edirisinghe, Acting Bursar of the University, Deputy Directors of the CDCE attended the event which was held at the Sri Lanka Standards Institution, Colombo.
First year (100 level) Bachelor of Arts (External New Syllabus) postponed examinations will be held form 12th August to 27th August, 2017. Please note that the BA [External-New Syllabus] 100 level examination which was to commence on April 06, 2017 has not yet been rescheduled. The CDCE, in consultation with the relevant authorities, will decide upon a date for recommencement of the examination. Turbulent weather that lead to floods, landslides and other disastrous situations leaving thousands displaced within days. Among many other groups, the CDCE too acted upon swiftly, collected donations from generous members of the CDCE and handed over to the Getambe temple to be send to the affected areas.
CDCE hosted a damma sermon on 9th May, 2017 at the CDCE premises in line with the Vesak Festival, 2017. A nun from from Anagarika Monastery of Kadugannawa delivered the sermon.
The members of the CDCE organized Avurudu Ulela to mark the Sinhala and Tamil New Year – 2017 on April 22 at the CDCE. Professor R.L. Wijeyaweera, Deputy Vice Chancellor of University of Peradeniya, Dr. Jayalath Edirisinghe, Former Director, CDCE Professor Terrence Madhujith, the Director of the CDCE, Dr. W.D. Chandrasena, Deputy Director, CDCE, Ms. Nilanjani Rajapakse, Assistant Registrar, CDCE, Mr. Ishan Samarahewa, Senior Assistant Bursar, CDCE and the employees of the CDCE along with their family members took part in a series of traditional recreational activities. This is the first time the CDCE held such an activity to celebrate New Year.
Seventy five students who successfully completed the requirements of the diploma in Management & Development were awarded with diploma on March 11 th at the Senate Home of the University of Peradeniya. The Acting Vice-Chancellery Prof R. L. Wijeyeweera graced the occasion. Deans of the Faculties, the Acting Director of the CDCE, Prof. Mahinda Somathilake, Deputy Directors, Prof. Terrence Madhujith, Dr. Tilak Bandara and Dr. W.D. Chandrasena, former Director of the CDCE Dr. Jayalath Edirisinghe, Assistant Registrar, Ms. N. Rajapakse and faculty staff joined with the Acting Vice-Chancellor in witnessing the event. The CDCE congratulates all the awardees.
