Student Exchange Program with TIT - 2014 February 28-March 7

A delegation of nine students from Tokyo Institute of Technology along with two members of the staff visited the University of Peradeniya for a student exchange study program. They arrived in Sri Lanka on the 27th of February and had an orientation ceremony on the 28th after which they met with the Vice Chancellor of UoP. They spent their 9 day tour having exchange sessions with students from UoP, visiting Pollonaruwa, Sigiriya and historic places around Kandy. They also had five lectures from various members of UoP Staff. The program also included visits to many factories and industries.
The closing ceremony was held on the 6th with the attendance of the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Dean Agriculture, Dean Veterinary Medicine and Dean Science and the Director/Sri Lanka Japan Study center.


Student Exchange Program of the Tokyo Institute of Technology 2014 September 6-14

The University of Peradeniya hosted the Tokyo Institute of Technology Mission who visited the country as part of their undergraduate degree. The mission consisted of twelve undergraduate students and was lead by two staff members for a program that commenced on the 6th of September and drew to an end on the 14th of September, 2014.
The student exchange program was also marked by a series of lectures conducted by Prof. Ranjith Dissanayake, Prof. Chandani Perera, Dr. Jayalath Edirisinghe, Dr. M. I. M. Mowjood and Dr. Shameen Jinadasa of the University of Peradeniya.
During the program, the students received the opportunity to visit various venues in Sri Lanka, namely, Anuradhuapura, Sigiriya, Dambulla through which they learned about the ancient civilizations in Sri Lanka with a historical value. In addition, the industrial visit to Richard Peiris Tyre Company and 4ever skin naturals Pvt. Ltd. was also a memorable experience to them.


Visit of the Delegates from the University of Miyazaki, Japan on 17th Sep 2014

Four delegates from the University of Miyazaki, Japan visited the University of Peradeniya on the 17th of September, 2014. During the visit, the delegates met with the Deputy Vice Chancellor and some staff members of the Faculty of Science and Faculty of Arts of the University of Peradeniya to discuss the possible future collaborations between the University of Peradeniya and University of Miyazaki. Hence, the delegates discussed the possibilities of awarding scholarships for students to study in both Universities, initiating student exchange programs/ staff and student training programs between the two Universities. In addition, Prof. Wickramagamage, Prof. JagathGunathilake, and Mr. A. S. M. Nawfhal also discussed about possible future research collaborations in relation to GIS application, with the delegates of the University of Miyazaki. Dr. JayalathEdirisinghe and Dr. WasanthaWickramasinghe also had a discussion with the delegates of the University of Miyazaki about transportation and road traffic accidents.


Visit of the Delegates from Utsunomiya University - 04th Sep 2014

Three delegates from the Utsunomiya University, Japan visited the University of Peradeniya on the 04th of September, 2014, and met with the Vice Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya, Prof. AtulaSenartne, on which occasion they signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two Universities. During their visit, they also had an interaction session with the students of the University of Peradeniya to explain about their study programs, student exchange programs and the availability of scholarships. With the signing of the MoU, the University of Peradeniya expects to carry out more collaborative work with Utsunomiya University in the near future.


Visit of the scholars from the University of the Sacred Heart, Tokyo, Japan 15th august 2014

A group of students from the University of the Sacred Heart, Tokyo, Japan visited the University of Peradeniya on the 15th of August, 2014. The students were accompanied by Prof. Yoshiyuki Nagata and Prof. Naoki Mizushima to the University of Peradeniya as a part of their study tour to Sri Lanka. During the visit, the scholars of the University of the Sacred Heart had an initial discussion with the Vice Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya and the Deputy Directors of the International Research Centre, University of Peradeniya, regarding the collaborative work that would be initiated between the two Universities.
