In
addition to its teaching commitments, the Department of Oral Pathology
provides the only Oral & Maxillofacial diagnostic pathology
reporting service to the entire country with highly trained specialists
who are recognized nationally and internationally for their expertise.
The staff of the Department of Oral Pathology also undertakes to generate new knowledge through relevant research.
Diagnostic services offered
The Department of Oral Pathology provides a biopsy reporting service for head and neck lesions, not only for patients attending the Dental Hospital, Peradeniya, but also to all Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons working throughout Sri Lanka and private practitioners.
Specialized diagnostic services offered
Department has facilities to provide immunohistochemical investigations for diagnostic purposes.
Specialized Equipment
Equipment and material to perform immunohistochemistry for diagnostic purposes.
Equipment to perform molecular biological investigations, especially polymerase chain reaction (PCR).
