Faculty of Engineering at University of Peradeniya will be celebrating its six decades of service to the nation in the year 2010. It was in 1950, that Professor E.O.E Pereira with an acadamic staff of 12 members commenced the acadamic program of the Faculty for the first batch of 25 undergraduates, in clombo. After many set backs and delays, the eagerly awaited move to peradeniya took place in 1964. Over a the past 60 years, the faculty has produced 10,000 engineers by providing an engineering education of the highest quality while maintaining its solid track record in laboratory services, research and consultancy geared towards the needs of the nation. The pricipal event among the activities planned for the celebration of the Diamond Jubilee is a mega-exhibition showcasing many facets of engineering advancements targeting upper secondary school children, the general public and technical professionals.
