...........The Civil Engineering Society (CES) of University of Peradeniya is the largest Engineering body based in this university. It has a pre-eminent history of thirty two years. The membership of CES, totalling to about 550, comprises of the undergraduates and the post graduate students reading for a degree in the field of Civil Engineering and the academic staff members of the Department of Civil Engineering. Having the staff and the students in the same membership is one of the unique features of this society.

...........The main objective of this society is to bring the staff, students and the industry to a common platform; and thereby improve the standards of the Civil Engineering profession by exchanging the facts and views of different segments of the profession. In achieving this goal the CES engages itself in organizing various activities, such as, industrial visits, talks and presentations, seminars, socials, etc.
