EXTERNAL DEGREES
Students reading for degrees externally are registered at the External Examinations Branch, housed at No. 10, Old Galaha Road, Peradeniya, 50 m from the Colombo - Kandy Road. This unit registers students and conducts examinations leading to the following degrees:
- Degree of Bachelor of Arts (General) - BA (General)
- Degree of Bachelor of Science (General) - BSc (General)
- Degree of Bachelor of Science with Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathermatics and Statistics - BSc (General)
- Degree of Bachelor of Arts (Special) - BA (Special)
- Degree of Bachelor of Science (Special) - BSc (Special)
A First Examination has been prescribed for each extemal degree and students are expected to complete it or obtain exemption from it before they sit for the Final Examination. In order to register for the first examination students are expected to satisfy certain minimum requirements prescribed by the Senate. Apart from passes in approved subjects obtained at the GCE (A/L) Examination, the Senate recognizes a variety of professional and other quailfications for this purpose.
