CDSGeo-2018 will be conducted at the Department of Geography of the Faculty of Arts, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka from 24th to 25th of November 2018.

Preamble

The 7th International Conference of the Union of Geographic Information Technologists (UGIT) is planned to be conducted at the Department of Geography, University of Peradeniya in collaboration with the Departments of Geography of the Bangalore University. This Conference will provide an excellent opportunity for Sri Lankan and international researchers, local and regional policy makers, and other organizations related to Geography and Environmental Sciences to present their research findings and to share their knowledge and experience in an interactive environment.

The conference will be held under the following thematic areas.

  • Climate Change
  • Disaster Risk Reduction
  • Natural Resource Management
  • Regional Development and Land Use Planning
  • Sustainable Development

Around 100 academics and researchers from India including geographers, geologists, environmentalists, geospatial technologists, university students, and administrators and planners from government agencies are expected to participate in this Conference through the UGIT. We encourage research institutions, both governmental and non-governmental organizations and the private sector and industries to participate in CDSGeo-2018.

Abstract Submission

GUIDELINES FOR ABSTRACT PREPARATION

  • Authors are encouraged to submit their extended abstracts through electronic mail and all submissions will be duly acknowledged by the editorial board.
  • Authors should read the General Guidelines for Preparation of Extended Abstracts.
  • Authors must submit their extended abstracts using the template downloaded from the Conference Website.
  • The extended abstracts should be clear and written in British English.
  • Research work presented or published elsewhere should not be submitted to CDSGeo-2018. If plagiarism is detected in an extended abstract, it will be rejected without any further reviewing.
  • Extended abstract should be carefully compiled and thoroughly checked for the content and also for typographical errors. They should also reflect on findings of already completed research.
  • Once an extended abstract is accepted, it is obligatory for one of the authors to present the paper in the oral or poster forms at the Conference.
  • All extended abstract should fit to two to three pages and contain approximately 1000 words with introduction (~30% of total content); methodology (~20%); results and conclusions (~50%); a short list of references.
  • One or two figures and a table can be included in the abstract within allowed page limit.
  • An acknowledgment may be included in the extended abstract, but it should not be longer than a sentence.
  • If required, the source of funding of the research may be acknowledged by a single sentence.
  • After the notification of the reviewers’ comments, the corresponding authors should submit the revised version of the extended abstracts before the dead line.
  • Extended abstracts that are accepted will be published in the CDSGeo-2018’s proceedings after the final editing.
  • Authors can submit their extended abstracts under any of the five thematic areas of the Conference. However, if deemed necessary, the editorial board of CDSGeo-2018 reserves the right to change the theme of the extended abstract.
  • Authors must submit a duly completed author information form and a declaration form with signatures, confirming that the work documented in the extended abstract is an original research carried out by the authors and this work has not been published elsewhere.

INSTRUCTION TO ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

  • Extended abstracts should be e-mailed to cdsgeo2018@gmail.com as an attachment on or before 31st July 2018.
  • Please note that all communications (i.e., sending review comments, informing decisions, submission of revised extended abstracts, proof reading of the extended abstracts and receiving camera ready copies of the extended abstracts, etc.) will be carried out only through e-mails.
  • The status of the extended abstracts that have been submitted can also be tracked using the Conference websites.

Oral Presentations

Authors of accepted abstracts will be allocated 15 minutes for the oral presentation, followed by a discussion time of 05 minutes. Authors are kindly instructed to prepare the presentation in Power Point format to comply with the above time allocation. Best research presenter will be selected in each session and awarded a certificate at the closing ceremony.

Registration fee

The registration fee includes a conference docket; a copy of the conference proceedings; entrance to all technical sessions; an evening snack (day-1); conference dinner and entrance to the cultural show (day-1); two refreshments and lunch (day-2). Additionally, Indian participants registered through UGIT will be provided accommodation on 24th and 25th November 2018.
