The Department Geology of the University of Peradeniya is well known for its research strength and excellent output of high quality research and publications. B.Sc. special degree students carry out their research projects in their final year and their findings often lead to presentations at professional society meetings and/or publication in refereed journals. Staff and students of the Department of Geology currently involve in research in following field of studies. In addition to that some of the MSc and MPhil students attached to the Postgraduate Institute of Science carry out their researches in earth science related disciplines.
