Me playing with a cobra

Hi,

I’m Ruchira, an academic staff member at the Department of Zoology at University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka and currently reading for my PhD under Prof. Rick Shine at University of Sydney, Australia.

In general, me and my wife (Nilu) are interested on herpetology, wildlife conservation, behavioral ecology and conservation biology but my specific fields of research interest are the study of local distributional patterns of gekkonid lizards, the structure and assemblage of snake communities, the behavioral ecology of snakes, the reproduction strategies in geckos and the herpetological biodiversity in protected areas. Currently we are working on a new book which will be out pretty soon (hopefully)!
