The 2025 New Year commencement ceremony was held on January 1st at 8:30 AM at the Senate Building of the University of Peradeniya, under the patronage of Vice-Chancellor, Professor Terrence Madhujith.
The event began with the performance of religious rituals, followed by the hoisting of the national and university flags. A two-minute silence was observed in honor of those who sacrificed their lives for the country. The public servant pledge was then administered in line with the Clean Sri Lanka initiative.
The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ranjith Pallegama, along with the Deans of all Faculties, Acting Registrar, Bursar, Librarian, and both academic and non-academic staff members of the University.
