University Admissions

Admission of Undergraduate students to the University of Peradeniya is done by the University Grants Commission (UGC) on the basis of a national admission policy for Universities in Sri Lanka prepared in consultation with the Ministry of Higher Education and in line with the national policies. Postgraduate admission is the responsibility of the respective Faculties and Postgraduate Institutes.

Undergraduate Admission

Under the admission policies in operation at present the candidates who have obtained at least “S” grade in three of the approved subjects in the respective stream (Arts, Commerce and Science) and a minimum of 30% for the Common General Paper are eligible to apply for admission to a University. From the applicants the UGC selects a pool for University admission on competitive basis to allocate them to Universities.
