The Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, University of Peradeniya, successfully conducted the inauguration ceremony for its 2022/23 intake on the 2nd of October 2024 at the Diamond Jubilee Hall. The event, held from 9.00 am to 10.00 am, was honored by the presence of Prof. Terrence Madhujith, Vice Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya.
The newly selected students and their parents were invited to this significant occasion. Prof. Sumedha Jayathilake, the University Proctor, Dr. T.P. Gamagedara, the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, the academic staff of the faculty and other officials of the faculty were also in attendance, underscoring the importance of the event.
The ceremony commenced with a welcoming address by Dr. T.P. Gamagedara, Acting Dean, who provided an overview of the faculty’s academic programs, its role in healthcare education, and the numerous opportunities available to students. This was followed by a keynote address from Prof. Terrence Madhujith, who delivered an insightful speech, underscoring the pivotal role of higher education in shaping students’ professional futures and contributing to the broader society.
The program also featured a cultural performance by senior students, showcasing a traditional dance and song, which added a rich cultural dimension to the event.
The inauguration ceremony marked an important milestone for the incoming students, officially welcoming them into the University of Peradeniya and setting a promising course for their academic and professional development.
