His Excellency, Rinchen Kuentsyl the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bhutan to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh visited the University of Peradeniya on 13th November 2022. His Excellency was accompanied by Mr. Sherab Dorji, the Second Secretary, Ambassy of the Kingdom of Bhutan to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
The Ambassador was welcomed by Prof. M.D. Lamawansa, the Vice-Chancellor, University of Peradeniya. Prof. T. Madujith, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, University of Peradeniya, Prof. V. Pinto, Dean, Faculty of Medicine and Prof. C.N.R.A. Alles, Director, International Relations Office. Vice-Chancellor discussed the close relationship between the Kingdom of Bhutan and the University of Peradeniya. Possible future collaborations including research and academic exchange were discussed at the brief meeting. His Excellency, Rinchen Kuentsyl conveyed his greetings to the University of Peradeniya. Further, His Excellency expressed his interest in students’ welfare and consolidating strong collaborations with the university. His Excellency pointed out the cultural similarities between the Kingdom of Bhutan and Sri Lanka. Followed by His Excellency visited the Faculty of Medicine to meet the Bhutan students who are studying at the faculty.
