The University of Peradeniya has taken steps to enhance collaboration with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, which is the largest research organization in the world. The Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, and senior academic and research staff held a series of meetings with visiting Chinese delegates and the officials of the Ministry of Water Supply, the Water Board, and the JRDC. Through this collaboration, more than 20 research students have received opportunities to pursue higher degrees in China, and have published 80 international research articles.
The meeting held in the Senate Room centered around developing a proposal to attract grants for the development of water-related research through JRDC. There was a scientific meeting held at the JRDC attended by 140 researchers and academics to share views with the visiting Chinese delegates.
