We proudly congratulate Professor R.S. Dharmakeerthi on his appointment as Chairman of the Sri Lanka Council for Agricultural Research Policy (SLCARP), effective 15th October 2024. A Professor in Soil Fertility and Nutrient Management at the Department of Soil Science, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya, he brings extensive expertise to this vital role.
SLCARP serves as a key advisory body for coordinating and strengthening efforts within the National Agriculture Research System (NARS) in Sri Lanka. It plays a pivotal role in funding research programs, promoting scientific collaborations, and advancing prioritized areas of agriculture both nationally and internationally. SLCARP also facilitates research by documenting and sharing the latest advancements with NARS scientists, fostering innovation and progress.
An alumnus of the Faculty of Agriculture, Professor Dharmakeerthi earned his PhD from the University of Guelph, Canada, under the Canadian Commonwealth Scholarship, and served as a Fulbright Scholar at Cornell University, USA. His proven leadership and expertise will undoubtedly enhance SLCARP’s mission to drive impactful agricultural research and innovation.
