With the current economic downturn, there is an imminent threat of a food shortage in the country. In this backdrop, the Deans of Faculties of Agriculture of state Universities of Sri Lanka led by the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya have been very thoughtful in developing strategies to restore and rebuild the once very prosperous agri-food sector of Sri Lanka. The recommendations to be implemented immediately and in short to medium terms were presented to the president and the prime minister recently.
