The Inter-Faculty Freshers Meet 2023 was successfully conducted from 16th February to 02nd March 2023 at the University of Peradeniya. Nearly 90% of the fresh students actively participated in 22 sports throughout the 12 days of the Inter-Faculty Freshers Meet.
The Inter-Faculty Freshers Meet is an important event on the calendar for the Physical Education Division of the University of Peradeniya and has been organized to motivate students to active and continued participation in sports, which would pay rich dividends in terms of fitness, well-being, and happiness, bringing together all the best qualities of a good sportsman.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya, Prof. WM. Terrence Madhujith, and the Director of the Physical Education Division, Prof. NWB. Balasooriya, graced the opening ceremony held on 16th February 2023 to applaud and welcome all the participants from all faculties.
The closing ceremony of the Inter-Faculty faculty Freshers meet, held on 02nd March 2023, was for awarding certificates, and medals, and overall, it was a day for sportsmanship and making memories. The chief guest of the event was Prof. MD. Lamawansa, Vice Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya. Prof. WM. Terrence Madhujith, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor participated as the Guest of honor with the Deans of the Faculties and the Director of Physical Education Division.
The Faculty of Engineering became the champion of the Inter-Faculty Meet- 2023 in the men’s category, while the Faculty of Arts secured the championship of the women’s category. The overall champions were the Faculty of Engineering, followed by the Faculty of Medicine as the 1st runner-up, and the Faculty of Agriculture as the 2nd runner up.
