His Excellency Eric Walsh, the High Commissioner of Canada to Sri Lanka and the Maldives visited the University of Peradeniya on the 25th of September 2023. The visit was meticulously planned and encompassed a series of key engagements, including a meeting with the Vice-Chancellor, an interaction with the Canadian Alumni Association, and an exploration of the university’s main library.
During the visit, His Excellency Eric Walsh has participated in a meeting at the Vice-Chancellor’s office. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor has mentioned the facilities and support services available to international students at the University of Peradeniya. The High Commissioner was accompanied by Ms. Indirani Jayawardena, the Political Officer attached to the High Commission.
Prof. M.D. Lamawansa, Vice-Chancellor, University of Peradeniya, Prof. Terrence Madhujith, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, University of Peradeniya, Prof. C.N.R.A. Alles, Director of International Relations Office, and the staff members of International Relations Office of the University of Peradeniya, participated in the meeting from the University of Peradeniya.
This visit served as a significant step in strengthening the ties between the University of Peradeniya and Canada, fostering potential collaborations, and enhancing international connections for both institutions.
