University Admissions

Admission of Undergraduate students to the University of Peradeniya is done by the University Grants Commission (UGC) on the basis of a national admission policy for Universities in Sri Lanka prepared in consultation with the Ministry of Higher Education and in line with the national policies. Postgraduate admission is the responsibility of the respective Faculties and Postgraduate Institutes.

Postgraduate Admission

Candidates for Postgraduate Degree Programmes may be registered as regular fulltime/ part-time, provisional or casual students under a Department of Study of a Faculty or a Postgraduate Institute.  The basic requirement for admission to a postgraduate degree is a Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant subject. For admission to Ph.D. programme, the candidates are expected have a Master’s Degree which may be waived at the discretion of the relevant Board of Study in the case of a Postgraduate Institute or a Department of Study in the case of a Faculty.
