CONFERENCE DATES - 12th, 13th, 14th of July 2019
It is a great privilege and honour for the organizing committee to invite you all to the International Conference on Smokeless Tobacco, Areca nut and Oral Cancer to be held on 12th - 14th of July 2019. This is the 3rd conference of this nature to be organized in Sri Lanka. Oral cancer is the commonest cancer among Sri Lankan males and the main aetilogical factors have been identified as smokeless tobacco and areca nut in the traditional betel quid. We sincerely hope that this will be an eye opener for all concerned to plan appropriate remedial measures to overcome the habit of betel chewing and to reduce the incidence of oral cancer as it is not only a health issue but a significant economic burden for a developing country. This conference will bring together a group of internationally renowned speakers to address on current approaches in the management of oral cancer and issues in relation to smokeless tobacco and areca nut with the hope of motivating health professionals and policy makers to initiate and plan new legislations to reduce the use of these two substances. Smokeless tobacco is already banned in Sri Lanka. However, the use of areca nut is still a serious health problem. I am most certain that, both local and foreign delegates will have a wonderful experience in the hill capital of Sri Lanka. In addition to the scientific programme covering all aspects in the management of oral cancer and OPMD, the delegates will certainly have the opportunity to enjoy Kandyan hospitality. As the Congress Chairman, it is my pleasure to invite you all to this historic event in cultural heritage city, Kandy, Sri Lanka.
