As part of the International Week 2025, an International Workshop on Future of Pali Studies was organized by the Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies, Indian High Commission and InRO, jointly. One Day Workshop on ‘Future of Pali Studies was jointly organized by the Assistant Indian High Commission of India, Kandy, the Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies and International Relations Office, as part of the International Week activities.
Pali language and its different usages in Therawada countries were deeply discussed at this workshop. Key note addresses were given by Ven. Aggamaha Panditha Prof. Muwaetugama Gnanananda Thero of the Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies, University of Peradeniya, Dr. Arun Kumar Tadew, Head, Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies, Beraras Hindu University, Prof. Ujjwal Kumar, Department of Buddhist Studies, University of Culcutta, Ven. Miriseatte Wimalagnana, Postgraduate Institute of Pali and Buddhist Studies, University of Kelaniya. Dr. Shailendra Kumar of Benaras Hindu University also attended as a Resource person. More than 100 participants representing several Universities of Sri Lanka attended this workshop.
The inauguration was graced by the Most Venerable Deputy Patriarch (Anunayake thera) of Malwatte Chapter of Siam Sect, Ven. Niyangoda Sri Vijithasiri Thero, H.E. the Assistant High Commissioner of India Ms. Saranya V.S, Acting Vice Chancellor of the University Prof. Ranjith Pallegama, Conference Chair Prof. Abey Ratnayake and Prof. Sanjeewa Malaviarachchi-Director, international relations Office, University of Peradeniya.
