The Long Service Awards and Appreciation Ceremony of the University of Peradeniya was successfully held on 1 January 2026 at the Senate room, under the patronage of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Terence Madhujith. The ceremony was organized to honor non-academic staff members who have completed 25, 30, 35, and 40 years of satisfactory and dedicated service to the university.
In addition to recognizing long-standing service, the event also paid special tribute to the staff members who demonstrated exceptional commitment, bravery, and responsibility in safeguarding students and protecting university property during the recent flood, when the University of Peradeniya was severely affected. The primary objective of the ceremony was to acknowledge their invaluable contributions, express institutional gratitude, and further motivate and encourage staff members in their continued service to the university community.
