The University of Peradeniya signed a memorandum of understanding with the Department of Animal Production and Health to analyze the evolution and spread of poultry-related zoonotic pathogens and antimicrobial resistance along the farm-to-fork continuum in the poultry industry in Sri Lanka. The two institutes shall jointly and in collaboration work towards ensuring the provision of microbiologically safe chicken meat to the consumer either in the local or foreign market
The agreement was signed by Professor MD. Lamawansa, Vice Chancellor, University of Peradeniya and Dr. Hemali Kothalawala, Director General, Department of Animal Production and Health, in a ceremony held on 9th March 2023 at the University of Peradeniya.
