The Department of Psychology moved to its new premises on 24th September 2024. Since becoming an independent entity in 2017, after separating from the Department of Philosophy and Psychology, the department has relocated several times within the Faculty of Arts. However, this new location offers an ideal environment to begin their academic and research ventures with renewed enthusiasm.
The new premises is situated near the Security Head Office at the University of Peradeniya and is surrounded by a nature-friendly, green environment at the foothills of the Hantana mountains.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya, Professor Terance Madujith, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Ranjith Pallegama, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Dr. Prabath Ekanayake, and other distinguished invitees, adding a vibrant touch to the occasion.
The current Head of the Department, Dr. Asanka Bulathwatta, and the staff warmly welcomed the guests with cheerful faces. The event also featured performances by some of the students, making it even more memorable.
