Dream Venture- Startups For Women

The inauguration of "Dream Venture- Startups for Women" organized by IEEE Women In Engineering Sri Lanka Section was held successfully at Information Technology Center of University of Peradeniya on 28th of April 2018.
Prof. Upul. B. Dissanayake, Vice Chancellor, University of Peradeniya graced the event as the chief guest. Dr. J. Wijekulasooriya, Director ITC UoP, Dr. Maheshi B Dissanayake, Treasurer IEEE WIE Sri Lanka, Ms. Tamasha Fernando, Project Manager ICTA, and representatives from ICTA participated in the inauguration ceremony along with the school students from Kandy and undergraduates from many universities in the country.


As the main facilitator of the workshop, Information Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) conducted a session on "Building a startup from scratch". An interactive session on “Design thinking" was conducted by Mr.Heminda Jayaweera, Co-Founder at Venture Frontier Lanka.

Guest speaker, Mr. Alagan Mahalingam, CEO and Chief Software Architect at 01 Tech, delivered a speech on Marketing and Trends of Startups. Mr. Dileepa Rajapaksha, Co-Founder and CEO of XiCigny, and Mr. Gayan Samarasekara Founder/ CEO/ Solution Architect at Mylinex International (Pvt.) Ltd, also delivered two informative guest speeches. The guest talks were productive and valuable, as speakers shared their own experience as founders of successful startups with the audience. The day’s activity was concluded after a hands on session on “Building a Quality Product" by volunteers from software engineering industry.

The second day of the activity will be held on 2nd of June 2018, and the organizers are planning a competition to promote initiation of successful startups.
