Visit by Norwegian Team

Sidsel Holmberg of the Norwegian Centre for International Cooperation in Education (SIU)with the team members of the project ‚ÄúHuman rights and reconciliation in a post-conflict multicultural society‚ÄĚ funded by SIU through the Norwegian Partnership Programme for Global Academic Cooperation (NORPART)visited the University of Peradeniya on 7th-8th May 2018. Ms. Holmberg was welcomed by the Vice-Chancellor,Prof.UpulB.Dissanayake, who discussed with her the internationalisation policies of the University. Ms Holmberg also met the academic staff of the University involved in the NORPART project, and discussed regarding the development of Master Degree and postgraduate diploma programs in Human Rights and Multiculturalism. Her visit coincided with the visit of four researchers from the University of South-East Norway, the partner university in Norway.

From 7th-18thof May 2018, researchers from both Universities are working together to prepare a framework for academics and students in their postgraduate research to engage in joint cross sectional small-scale research on human rights in post-conflict multicultural Sri Lanka. The visit from the University of South-east Norway also includes a guest lecture to be held by Professor Gabriela Mezzanotti at the PGIHS on 17thMay, 2018 entitled ‚ÄúServing the world? A critical analysis of the humanitarian discourse today.‚ÄĚ
