The Research Symposium of the Master of Education Programme 2016/17

The Research Symposium of the Master of Education Programme 2016/17 (Research Symposium 2017) of the Department of Education, Faculty of Arts, University of Peradeniya was successfully held on 30th November, 2017 at the premises of Department of Education, University of Peradeniya.

This was the first research symposium of the Department of Education, where the main objectives were to provide a platform for students to disseminate their research findings while improving their generic skills for education, which are essential for the 21stcentury education and to improve and maintain the quality and standard of postgraduate research in the Department of Education.

The Vice- Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya, Prof. Upul B. Dissanayake graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Dr. Jayantha Balasooriya delivered the Keynote Address of the Symposium. The other invitees were the Prof. O.G. Dayaratna- Banda, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Prof. J.M. Ananda Jayawickrama, Director of the PGIHS, Head of the Departments of the Faculty of Arts and academic staff members of the Department of Education.

During the research session of the symposium, a total of 18 research   papers were presented by the students of Master of Education Programme programme 2016/17. Research presentations were organized under 4 themes as Curriculum development, Educational Management, Educational Psychology and Educational Sociology.
