Science Camps 2018

The Science Education Unit, Faculty of Science, University of Peradeniya successfully conducted three, 2-day Science Camps as follows,

  1. Loyola College, Negombo from 19th to 20th May 2018 for 300 G.C.E. (O/L) and 150 G.C.E. (A/L) Biological and Physical Science students.
  2. Ibbagamuwa Central College from 23rd to 24th June 2018 for 300 G.C.E. (O/L) and 200 G.C.E. (A/L) Biological and Physical Science students.
  3. Pollonnaruwa central college from 7th to 8th July 2018 for 350 G.C.E. (A/L) Biological and Physical Science students.

  4. The aim was to popularize science among young students by disseminating up-to-date scientific knowledge. A group around 60 including academic staff members, demonstrators and non-academic staff members of the Faculty of Science, University of Peradeniya participated in each of these Science Camps. Prof. S.H.P.P. Karunaratne (Deputy Vice Chancellor), Prof. S.R. Kodituwakku (Dean, Faculty of Science) and Prof. Sanath Rajapakse (Director, Science Education Unit, Faculty of Science) University of Peradeniya were among the resource persons in these programmes. These Science Camps consisted of lecture and practical sessions on Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics and were organized in collaboration with Provincial Education Departments of the North Western and North Central Provinces. Participants, in their feedback, had highly appreciated the knowledge, experience and motivation they received from this programmes.
