A delegation led by the Deputy Director of the Yunnan Research Institute of Culture and History visited the University of Peradeniya on 9th December 2024. The Deputy Director Zhou Ling was accompanied by several dignitaries from the Liaison Office, Discipline Inspection Commission of the Yunnan Research Institute of Culture and History and Yunnan Literature Research Institute.
They met the Vice Chancellor and the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya at the Senate house of the university. The discussion focused on two key areas: Understanding historical and cultural development in Sri Lanka, the role of social organizations and institutions, and the implementation of cultural propaganda and education and Identifying the entry points for academic and artistic exchanges and cooperation between two institutes, and exploring the establishment of a mechanism for historical and cultural academic and artistic exchanges.
The visit concluded with a mutual commitment to fostering deeper academic and cultural ties between the two institutions. Both parties expressed optimism about future collaborations and the visit marked a significant step towards building a sustainable partnership that will contribute to the preservation and promotion of shared cultural heritage.
