Professor Terrence Madhujith assumed duties as the 23rd Vice Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya on 01st August, 2024. The induction ceremony began with religious observances by the Maha Sangha and representatives from the three other main religious denominations. The ceremony took place in the Senate Room and was attended Chancellor Professor Gerald Peiris, outgoing Vice Chancellor Professor M.D. Lamawansa, Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor Professor Ravi Kuruppuge, the Deans of the Faculties, Council members, Directors of Postgraduate Institutes, former Vice Chancellors, academic, administrative and non academic staff including and other distinguished guests. Professor Madhujith, a Professor of Food Science, previously served as the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya.
