On the 23rd of August, the congress concluded with its valedictory function held at the Jubilee Hall of the Faculty of Agriculture, bringing together participants in a memorable celebration. The evening was not only a formal closing but also a cultural showcase that highlighted Sri Lanka’s deep-rooted traditions. The occasion was enriched by a vibrant cultural show featuring several traditional performances, among which Pandam Paliya stood out as a rare and unique representation of the island’s heritage. These carefully selected performances carried with them the spirit of generations, leaving a lasting impression of the richness and diversity of Sri Lankan culture.

The event became even more colorful with the enthusiastic participation of the student dance troupe from the Faculty of Arts. Their youthful energy and captivating movements infused the evening with elegance, bridging tradition with the dynamism of the present. Particularly remarkable were the cultural items that featured the playing of various traditional drums belonging to both the low-country and up-country musical traditions. The rhythmic beats resonated through the hall, capturing the hearts of the audience and reminding everyone of the powerful role music plays in cultural identity.

Foreign and local delegates alike were delighted by these traditional performances, many of which were a new experience for them. The surprise and admiration on their faces reflected the universal appeal of Sri Lanka’s cultural spirit. Beyond entertainment, the performances carried a message of resilience, showing how cultural practices have been preserved and celebrated for thousands of years. The valedictory function was a reminder of the island’s enduring heritage and its ability to inspire across generations and borders.
