Exclusive Technology License Agreement Signing Ceremony with Sarasavi Industries (Pvt) Ltd. and the University of Peradeniya

The University of Peradeniya signed the second technology license agreement with Sarasavi Industries (Pvt) Ltd. for the product commercialization of RESPIRONE NANO AV 99 face mask, which was invented by Prof. R.M. Gamini Rajapakshe, Dr. Chaminda Herath, Mr. Gayan Thilakarathna and the research team from the Faculty of Science.

The agreement was signed on behalf of the University of Peradeniya by Prof. MD. Lamawansa, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya, and Ms. MGJ. Dharmasiri, Acting Registrar of the University of Peradeniya while Mr. Chamath Kumara, Head of Marketing and Administration signed the agreement on behalf of Sarasavi Industries (Pvt) Ltd.

During the signing ceremony, Sarasavi Industries (Pvt) Ltd. handed over the license fee and royalty payment cheques to the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya. Additionally, Prof. R. M. Gamini Rajapakshe handed over the 1^st patent document, granted in the name of the University of Peradeniya, to the Vice-Chancellor.

Rajapakse, Prof. YPRD. Yapa (Director/BLII-TTO), Prof. BDR. Prasantha (IP Advisory Sub Committee), Prof. Ruwan Jayasinghe (Director/OTS), Dr. PMTB. Sandirigama (IP Advisory Sub Committee), Ms. KRT. Amani Kahandawa (Technology Manager/BLII-TTO), Miss. Sankapali Mallawarachchi (Project Assistant/BLII-TTO) from the University of Peradeniya and Mr. DKD. Chamath Kumara (Head of Marketing and Administration), Mr. APA. Prasanna (Finance Manager) Mr. PRJ. Fernando (Operations Manager), and Mrs. VL. Kularathne from Sarasavi Industries (Pvt) Ltd. participated in the event held on 16^th March 2023 at Senate Conference Room, University of Peradeniya.

This technology license agreement made a significant milestone for both the University of Peradeniya and Sarasavi Industries (Pvt) Ltd. in their efforts to promote innovation and advance technology in Sri Lanka.
