Her Excellency Mrs. Dewi Gustina Tobing, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya on 10 December 2024. She was accompanied by a team of staff of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia including Mr. Heru Prayitno, Head of Chancery of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia and some political, administrative and Socio-cultural staff members of the Embassy. The Vice Chancellor and the Director of the Career Guidance Unit of the university met the dignitaries.
Thereafter the ambassador delivered a public lecture to a group of students of the university to provide insight into Indonesia, its relationship with Sri Lanka, and the importance of bilateral ties between the two nations. The session aimed at fostering a better understanding of Indonesia’s culture, economy, and cooperation with Sri Lanka across various fields. Students gained a broader understanding of Indonesia’s unique cultural, social, and economic landscape which is essential for students, as it broadens their perspective on regional and global affairs.
The visit concluded with an engaging interactive session where students had the opportunity to pose questions to Her Excellency Dewi Gustina Tobing and the embassy officials. This dialogue allowed students to deepen their understanding of Indonesia’s role in the region and its strategic partnership with Sri Lanka.
