The ICC T20 World Cup trophy was brought to the University of Peradeniya as part of the official trophy tour. This marks the first time in recent history that an ICC trophy has been displayed at the University of Peradeniya. It is truly an honor that the International Cricket Council and Sri Lanka Cricket chose to include the university in this prestigious tour.
Ms. Sandamali Hewage, Director of the Ministry of Trade, Commerce and Tourism of the Central Province, and Dr. Prabhath Ekanayake, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, played a crucial role in facilitating the visit and arranging for the trophy to be displayed at the university.
The trophy was officially received on behalf of the university by Professor Terence Madhujith, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya. Professor Ranjith Pallegama, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, the Acting Registrar, the Bursar, the Director of the Physical Education Division, along with academic and non-academic staff, students, and four university cricket teams were present to witness this historic event. Mr. Mahesh Abeywickrama, Acting Public Relations Officer, and his team played a pivotal role in coordinating the logistics and ensuring the success of the event.
