The International Water Conference on Climate Change and Environmental Pollution

The International Water Conference on Climate Change and Environmental Pollution: Challenges and Solutions for Food Security and Public Health was successfully held on 24 th and 25 th March 2025 at JRDC. The event was honored by the presence of His Excellency Mr. Qi Zhenhong, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Sri Lanka, Mr. Ranjith Ariyarathne, Secretary of the Ministry of Urban Development, Construction, and Housing, Prof. Terrence Madujith, Vice Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya, and Prof. Ranjith Pallegama, Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya.
This conference was jointly organized to commemorate the 10 th anniversary of the Joint Research and Demonstration Center (JRDC), marking a decade of collaboration and scientific advancements in water resource management and environmental sustainability. The event featured an esteemed Chinese delegation of 40 members, including Prof. Jiuhui Qu, a distinguished Nobel Sustainability Trust’s Sustainability Awardee. In addition, international speakers from Australia and Germany contributed their expertise alongside renowned Sri Lankan academics, fostering a vibrant exchange of knowledge and innovative solutions to address pressing global environmental challenges.
The program was funded by the Alliance of International Science Organizations (ANSO), underscoring the commitment to international scientific collaboration and sustainable development.
