It is with great pleasure that the Nursing Care Centre of Department of Nursing, Faculty of Allied Health Science was declared open on 19th May 2025 at Gatambe, Peradeniya. A gathering of distinguished invitees and the staff members of Faculty of Allied Health Sciences participated to witness this opening ceremony. Accordingly, Head and the staff of Department of Nursing was truly gratified to welcome Professor Terrence Madhujith, Vice Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya, Professor M.D. Lamawansa, the former Vice Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya, Prof. Lalani Yatawara, the Dean of Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Heads and the academic staff members of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences and extended staff from clinical training setup were also special among the invited dignitaries.
As emphasized by Dr. Deepani Pathiranage, Head of the Department of Nursing, this service centre will primarily focus on providing wound care to patients suffering from chronic wounds, along with a range of other nursing services aimed at promoting recovery and comfort for patients with various health conditions. As a result, the centre will generate financial benefits by offering nursing services to the public at reasonable rates and create an ideal environment for undergraduate nursing students to gain hands-on experience in wound care and other nursing interventions.
It is the utmost privilege of Department of Nursing to acknowledge each, and every individual contributed their tireless efforts to make this accomplishment a great success. Eventually, this Nursing Care Centre will be an important resource centre for the entire University of Peradeniya community.
