The 10 th session of the Vice Chancellor’s Lecture Series was successfully conducted on 15 th of January 2025 at 12.30 p.m. in the Senate Room of the University of Peradeniya.
The speaker for the event was Mr. Nihal Wijewardana, Senior Deputy Comissioner of the Department of Inland Revenue, Tax Policy and Legislation Unit in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Mr. Nihal Wijewardana delivered an insightful and comprehensive speech on “Meeting your tax obligations: A guide to compliance” highlighting the income tax payments, filing tax return, qualifying payments, tax reliefs, and explaining the Advance Personal Income Tax (APIT) in detail.
The audience included the Vice Chancellor, Deputy Vice Chancellor, the Deans of the Faculties, Directors of Postgraduate Institutes and Centers, Heads of the Departments, as well as many academic and non-academic staff. The Vice Chancellor’s Lecture Series is aimed to provide the University community with a distinctive opportunity to engage with and learn from eminent speakers and professionals in their respective fields of expertise. It serves as a platform for intellectual enrichment, fostering a vibrant exchange of ideas and knowledge within the academic community.
