The 13th session of the Vice Chancellor’s Lecture Series was successfully conducted on 18 th of June 2025 at 12.30 p.m. in the Senate Room of the University of Peradeniya with the participation of the Vice Chancellor, Deputy Vice Chancellor, the Deans of the Faculties, Directors of Postgraduate Institutes and Centers, Heads of the Departments, as well as many academic and administrative staff. The Vice Chancellor’s Lecture Series is aimed to provide the University community with a distinctive opportunity to engage with and learn from eminent scholars in their respective fields of expertise. It serves as a platform for intellectual enrichment, fostering a vibrant exchange of ideas and knowledge within the academic community.
The speaker for the event was Prof. Udaya Ralapanawa, Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya. Prof. Udaya Ralapanawa delivered an insightful speech on“Know your numbers: Understanding and Beating High Blood Pressure” highlighting the epidemiology of hypertension including the aetiology, risk factors and diseases attributable to hypertension in Sri Lanka.
