The eighth session of the Vice Chancellor’s Lecture Series was successfully conducted on 20th of November 2024 at 1.00 p.m. in the Senate Room of the University of Peradeniya with the participation of the Vice Chancellor, Deputy Vice Chancellor, the Deans of the Faculties, Directors of Postgraduate Institutes and Centers, Heads of the Departments, as well as many academic and non-academic staff. The Vice Chancellor’s Lecture Series is aimed to provide the University community with a distinctive opportunity to engage with and learn from eminent scholars in their respective fields of expertise. It serves as a platform for intellectual enrichment, fostering a vibrant exchange of ideas and knowledge within the academic community.
The speaker for the event was Prof. Roshan Dharshana Yapa, the Director of the Business Linkage, Inoovation, Incubation and Technology Transfer Office, University of Peradeniya. Prof. Darshana Yapa delivered an insightful speech on “Pera Innovation Park: Elevating University of Peradeniya’s Global Standing through Innovations and Collaborations” highlighting the importance of establighing an innovation park to promote the research collaborations and establishment of industry sponsored research laboratories with leading industries, commercialization of the research findings, encourage startups among staff and students, and to provide research and technology support to the small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), ultimately uplifting the Global Innovation Index of the country.
