The University of Peradeniya welcomed a delegation from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IITR) on 30 September 2025 at the Vice Chancellor’s Office to discuss opportunities for academic and research collaboration.
The meeting was chaired by Prof. Ranjith Pallegama, Acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya, together with Dr. Panduka Neluwala, Acting Director, International Relations Office, and Ms. Thushanika Pakkiyarasa, Project Manager, International Relations Office.
The IITR delegation was led by Prof. Kamal Kishore Pant, Director, accompanied by Prof. Vimal Chandra Srivastava, Dean of International Relations, and Prof. Sanjaykumar Harihar Upadhyay, Head of the Center for Space Science & Technology. Two representatives from the Office of the Assistant High Commission of India to Sri Lanka were also present.
Both institutions highlighted the potential for cooperation in Engineering. Discussions focused on launching student and staff exchange programmes, initiating collaboration through an Exchange Agreement, and exploring the possibility of joint PhD and Master’s programmes.
