The University of Peradeniya has expanded its operational capabilities with the recent acquisition of a backhoe loader machine, valued approximately at Rs. 24 million. This essential addition, funded by the Treasury, will support the university’s extensive infrastructure needs across its 1700-acre premises.
The official handover ceremony took place on May 2, 2025, with Vice-Chancellor Professor Terrence Madhujith formally presenting the machine to the Acting Registrar Mr. Mahinda Ekanayake.
Also in attendance were Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Ranjith Pallegama, former Vice-Chancellor Professor M.D. Lamawansa, former Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor R.L. Wijayaweera, the Financial Bursar, Works Engineer, and several other senior university officials.
