Erasmus programme scholarships

The European Union’s Erasmus+ program is a funding scheme to support activities in the fields of education, training, youth and sport.

The program is composed of three ‘Key Actions’ and two additional actions as follows;

  • Key action 1- Mobility
  • Key action 2 – Cooperation Erasmus+
  • Key action 3 – Policy

All staff and students receive scholarship granted by the host university. The amount varies depending on the institution. However, the total amount is sufficient for the air ticket and stipend is provided for the other expenses for the total duration abroad.

Generally applications for are called from November – February each year UoP staff can initiate programs jointly with European Universities, in which UoP will act as a partner university. For this type of programs program country university receives the funding while the partner countries benefited from the funding.

How can students apply?

When the university announce their intake periods respective faculties and postgraduate institutes are been informed by the International Affairs Office (IAO) of UoP.

Faculties and postgraduate institutes nominate potential students based on their academic and other performances.

The rest of the procedure basically depends on the requirements of the hosting university abroad.

Generally students are required to submit following documents to support their application

  • CV
  • Statement of Purpose (if required)
  • Transcript records
  • Copy of Passport

This action provides mobility opportunities in the education, training and youth sectors. However, funding cannot be received for individual staff, students or volunteers. Instead they should contact European organizations which receive Erasmus+ program support. Under this UoP has two programs related to students – staff exchanges;

  • Inter-institutional agreements between program country (European) universities with UoP – allows exchange of teaching and administrative staff, undergraduate and postgraduate students

Application form should be filled by both institutions according to the potential areas identified for the exchange (template can be found here)

Final agreement should be signed by the Vice Chancellor/President of the each institution and final document will be submitted by the program country institution to their respective national agency.

This will provide both staff and students an opportunity to spend a semester or few weeks abroad in the program country university. Staff will have the benefit of meeting scholars and to intitate new research opportunities while gaining new knowledge and training. Students can take course work or can carry out their research abroad. In certain cases students have the opportunity to transfer their credits to the degree program at UoP.

Under Erasmus Mundus masters students have the opportunity to spend one semester abroad as a part of their degree program.

KA 2 involves with participation of different organizations from different countires to work together, to develop, share and transfer best practices and innovative approaches in the fields of education, training and youth. Under this UoP is involved with Capacity Building in the field of higher education.

In this aspect program university in either program or partner country indentifies any areas that are to be improved and gather expertise from other organizations from local and European organizations. Then the university which acts as the principle investigator will submit the final proposal with other relevant documents in the application package.

Generally partner institute should provide details for the P1 form of the application and mandate signed by the Vice Chancellor.
