Student Exchange Program of University of the Sacred Heart, Japan

A Japanese delegation consists of 10 students and 02 staff members of University of the Sacred Heart, Tokyo visited University of Peradeniya on 01 September 2017. The student Exchange Program was scheduled to discuss the project on Developing a Recycle-oriented Community Model through the Catalyst of a Public School as an Environmental Center Developing a Recycle-oriented Community Model along with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The basic concepts of the proposed project, implementation and the expected outcomes were clearly elaborated at the discussions and the students showed their keen interest on the programme.

Project manager, Prof. Yoshiyuki Nagata, University of Sacred Heart, Coordinator both Domestic and Overseas Communications, Ms. Wakako Kanda, University of the Sacred Heart marked their presence and from University of Peradeniya, Dr. Nanda Gunawardhana, Director, InRC, Dr. Parakrama Karunarathne, Faculty of Engineering and Dr. W.D. Chandrasena, Science Education Unit and some UoP students also took part in the programme. Also Dr. S.K. Weragoda, Mr. N.I. Wickramasingha and Mr. W.B.M.L.J. Weerasekara participated on behalf of the National Water Supply and Drainage Board.
