TranzFiesta- Romanian Folk Music and Dance Festival

TranzFiesta- Romanian Folk Music and Dance Festival was held on 07 December 2017 at R.R. Appadurai Auditorium, University of Peradeniya. The Art Council and the Department of Fine Arts along with the International Affairs Office organzed the Musical Event.

A troupe of Romanian artists consist of 15 students and the 07 staff members from the Transilvania University of Brașov, Romania visited University of Peradeniya to carry out the performances and the event was glamourously taken place as the first Romanian Folk Music and Dance Festival in the history of University of Peradeniya.

Prof. Upul B. Dissanayaka, Vice- Chancellor, Prof. Gamini Pushpakumara, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Manoj Alawatukotuwe, Head, Department of Fine Arts and Dr. Nanda Gunawardhana, Director International Affairs Office hosted the event from the end of the University of Peradeniya and Prof. Madalina Rucsanda, Dean, Faculty of Music, Prof. Marius Alexandru, Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Claudiu Coman, Dean, Faculty of Sociology and Communication and Prof. Diana Tint, Faculty of Medicine represented the staff of Transilvania University of Brașov, Romania. Also, Miss. Michelle Medeler from the Romanian Embassy in Sri Lanka marked her presence at the event.

TranzFiesta was roundup with a considerable number of participants from diverse areas and it also consisted with the students of the UoP and the members of the International Interaction Club, University of Peradeniya.

This event provided helping hands to create bridges to a better cultural exchange between the respected two countries and the institutions while bringing out an absolutely brand-new experience of the Folk music and dance of Romania to the audience.
