The Welcome Ceremony for the new entrants to the Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSC) Degree Program – 2022/2023 Academic Year, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science, University of Peradeniya was held on the 26th of November 2024. The Welcome Ceremony of the faculty was held at the auditorium of the Department of Farm Animal Production and Health with the participation of 108 new entrants along with their parents and other distinguished guests. Professor Terrence Madujith, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya adorned the ceremony as the Chief Guest.
The event was graced by Professor Ranjith Pallegama, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya, Dr. A. W. Kalupahana, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science. Dr. T. A. Gunawardana delivered the welcome address as the coordinator of the orientation program and Prof. Sunil Chandra addressed the gathering as the guest speaker of the event. The students of FVMAS presented a cultural event to entertain the audience.
Furthermore, students who have attained academic excellence in the BVSC study program were awarded medals and scholarships by the Chief Guest during the event. Ms. Viduni Keerthisignhe, an award recipient then addressed the gathering. Mr. Nadisha Dilshan, President of the Veterinary Students’ Union addressed the audience after which the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Shashi Senevirathne, marking the conclusion of the ceremony.
