The Faculty of Dental Sciences, University of Peradeniya, proudly held its Welcome Ceremony for the new entrants of the 2024/2025 batch on 14th October 2025 at the K. Bambaratneya Auditorium.
The event was graced by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. W.M.T. Madhujith, and the Deputy Vice Chancellor,Prof R. W. Pallegama, along with the Deans of other faculties, distinguished academic staff, and university officials.
The ceremony began with the traditional lighting of the oil lamp and addresses by the Dean, Faculty of Dental Sciences, and other dignitaries. The new students and their proud parents participated in this inspiring occasion that marked the beginning of their journey in dentistry.
Dental undergraduates of 2023/24 batch added color and vibrance to the event through cultural performances and entertainment items, showcasing their enthusiasm and creativity.
Following the inaugural session, students were treated to an inspirational motivational speech by Prof Chamara Dalugama aimed at guiding them as they embark on their academic journey. Students were also introduced to the Mentoring programme where each student were assigned to a Mentor, whom a member of the Academic staff. Meanwhile, a special session was conducted for parents, where addressing key aspects of student life, support systems, and university opportunities.
The day concluded with the registration of new entrants, marking the formal beginning of their academic path. From 15th October 2025 onwards, the students will commence their Intensive course physically at the Faculty of Dental Sciences.
