A Memorandum of Understanding facilitating collaborative research activities between University of Peradeniya and the Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine was signed by the Vice-chancellors Professor MD. Lamawansa of Peradeniya and Professor Janitha A. Liyanage of Gampaha Wickramarachchi University on the 31st of December 2022.
The MoU is the first of its kind and marks a milestone in the history of research culture in Sri -Lanka where collaboration between Western and Indigenous medical practices are not only facilitated but encouraged and celebrated.
The goal is to offer the unique opportunity to scholars of both universities to engage in innovative, productive research activities while supporting each other in expanding their respective knowledge bases. The ultimate benefit would be to the general public of Sri Lanka who would get to experience the best of both worlds in time to come.
