The University of Peradeniya’s Faculty of Allied Health Sciences collaborated with Duke University in North Carolina, USA, to host a two-day workshop on August 7th and 8th, 2023. The workshop, “Regional Workshop on Building Capacity to Improve Air Quality in South Asia” aimed to increase the region’s ability to enhance air quality. United States Department of State provided funding for this event, which brought together delegates from Unites States, Bhutan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Maldives and Sri Lanka.
During the workshop, the regional partners presented their research projects that were specifically aimed at monitoring and modelling air pollution caused by Particulate Matter (PM) through the use of low-cost sensor networks in the area. The attendees engaged in discussions about their progress in calibrating, visualizing, and analyzing the data collected from their PM sensor networks that had been installed throughout the subcontinent.
