The World's Top 2% Scientists

Stanford University’s list of “World’s Top 2%” scientists is based on a 2% or above percentile rank, or the top 100,000 by c-score (with and without self-citations). This prestigious list identifies the world’s leading researchers, representing approximately 2% of all scientists worldwide. It encompasses standardized data on citations, h-index, and a wide range of bibliometric indicators. Researchers are classified into 22 scientific fields and 174 sub-fields, drawing from Scopus data provided by Elsevier. 

The following members from the University of Peradeniya are recognized in the database based on career-long citation impact up until the end of 2023 and based on the citation index up in 2023.

The University Experience

The University of Peradeniya is heir to the  University of Ceylon which was established in 1942.  It is the largest and best-endowed university in Sri Lanka. It has eight faculties (schools) and 72 academic departments, an undergraduate enrolment of approximately 9000 and a postgraduate enrolment of approximately 2000. It has a diverse student body with students representing all geographic regions and ethnic communities of the country, as well as several international students.
